Job Summary
The Benefits Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administration, compliance, and continuous improvement of the Company's employee benefits and retirement programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of benefits professionals.
- Partner with Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to ensure seamless benefits administration and issue resolution.
- Identify opportunities to improve team efficiency through process enhancements, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Support open enrollment planning, employee communications, and cross-functional benefits initiatives.
Retirement Administration
- Oversee administration of the Company's 401(k) and retirement programs, including eligibility, enrollments, loans, distributions, and participant support.
- Coincide with retirement plan providers to ensure accurate payroll feeds, reconciliations, and compliance.
- Support retirement plan audits, testing, and required reporting.
Benefit Vendor and Carrier Administration
- Oversee administration of all health and welfare benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary benefits, and leave programs.
- Manage relationships with brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, and other benefit vendors to ensure quality service and issue resolution.
- Oversee benefit enrollments, life events, eligibility changes, open enrollment, and HRIS benefits administration.
- Ensure accurate carrier billing, payroll deductions, and benefit reconciliations.
- Support implementation of new benefit programs, system enhancements, and process improvements.
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other benefit-related laws.
- Coincide with regulatory filings, audits, and reporting requirements, including Forms 1095-C and 5500.
- Maintain accurate documentation, perform regular audits, and monitor legislative changes impacting employee benefits.
- Develop reports and metrics to support operational decision-making and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of progressive employee benefits administration experience.
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits, retirement administration, and benefits compliance.
- Experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems (ADP, UKG, PlanSource, or similar).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
