Griffin Media’s Benefits/Human Resources Generalist helps drive the Ideal Team Player culture by coordinating a variety of HR functions, including benefits administration, compliance, training, and recruitment. This role supports the HR needs of the organization and ensures the effective implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and answer questions regarding benefits coverage.
  • Work with benefits providers to resolve any issues and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Manage annual open enrollment process, including creating communication materials, conducting informational sessions, and ensuring smooth and accurate enrollment.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices ensuring accurate coverage information for all employees.
  • Review and approve weekly claims data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local benefits regulations and assist in updating documentation and reports as required.
  • Be a helpful HR resource and support employees by responding to their inquiries and following up as needed to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Support the recruitment process by attending career fairs and assisting with job postings.
  • Support the new employee onboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personnel files, benefit files, HR databases, and the HRIS system.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Support HR initiatives and projects, such as wellness, employee events, communications, and employee engagement.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to continuously improve HR processes and practices.
  • Promote a positive work environment and culture through employee initiatives.
  • Attend and participate in regular trainings and conferences to stay up to date on benefits, HR policies, and practices in the industry.
  • Support building operations including employee parking, security, etc.
  • Occasional travel between the Oklahoma City and Tulsa offices.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including driving an automobile for company business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Related experience will be evaluated and may be substituted as years of education.
  • 2+ years of experience in human resources preferred, with a focus on benefits administration and generalist functions.
  • HR Certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred, showcasing a commitment to professional development.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency in using HRIS systems, Paycom preferred. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, primarily Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and have a driving record acceptable to the company.
  • Ability to perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Capable of handling the physical and mental requirements including:

Schedule

This is a full-time position primarily working 40 hours per week. You may also be called upon at times to fill in other hours and days of the week to help cover vacations, illnesses, breaking news, severe weather, or special projects/events. This position may be eligible to work remotely on occasion and at the discretion of the supervisor.
