Benefits Analyst (Hybrid Schedule)

Hybrid schedules may be available, requiring at least three days in the office (including Tuesdays and Wednesdays), with flexibility for the third day based on department needs. Employees must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed for emergencies, training, or other business needs.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager of Benefits Strategy, the Benefits Analyst will lead research, analysis, evaluation, and reporting in support of the Benefits Strategy team. This role coordinates annual ERISA plan audits and SOX controls for benefits programs, ensuring compliance, strong internal controls, and efficient stakeholder coordination across HR, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to compliance activities, including the annual benefit plan audit cycle and review of SOC-1 vendor reports. Document, review, and escalate concerns to key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to external auditors (financial statement and SOC report reviewers), providing requested financial and other data.
  • Coordinate with functional areas to supply data requested by auditors.
  • Reconcile pension payments and censuses; oversee tie-outs/reconciliations (e.g., census to payroll, payroll to recordkeeper, trust to GL, contributions/forfeitures/plan expenses). Document and implement new controls as needed.
  • Review draft financial statements and footnotes; validate disclosures align with plan documents and operations.
  • Coordinate documentation for 5500 filing, including collecting Schedule As and Cs, and file extensions for certain benefit plans.
  • Drive resolution of audit findings; own remediation plans.
  • Lead annual SOC 1/SOC 2 report reviews for benefits-related vendors; perform complementary user entity controls (CUECs) mapping and evidence capture.
  • Track bridge letters, penetration test summaries, and cyber questionnaires as needed.
  • Oversee SLAs, operational exceptions, and corrective action plans with vendors, recordkeepers, and TPAs.
  • Stay current on emerging compliance trends (SOX, IRS) that may impact HR.
  • Assist with benefit plan bill payment approval.
  • Perform financial and benchmarking analyses for benefits projects, including claims data analysis.
  • Provide analytical support for rate cases.
  • Complete other tasks or projects as assigned by the Benefits Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of related experience, with exposure to Finance and employee benefits preferred.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits (CEBS certification a plus).
  • Proficiency in accounting and financial systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Pay

Annual salary range: $84,600.00–$94,000.00. This position is eligible for a potential incentive.
