Benefit Specialist (Evening Shift: 11:30 am - 8:00 pm)
About the role
The Benefits Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting patients and healthcare providers by verifying benefits, determining coverage, and managing patient assistance programs. This role operates in a dynamic and compassionate customer service environment, requiring strong communication skills and a deep understanding of healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities
- Performing patient-level benefits verifications for major medical and pharmacy plans.
- Completing template forms for patient-level benefits coverage determination summaries.
- Coordinating prior authorizations based on payer guidelines and legal requirements.
- Assessing and communicating patient eligibility for patient assistance programs.
- Answering and assisting inbound callers, resolving inquiries through SOPs and good manufacturing practices.
- Reporting adverse events and product complaints in accordance with SOPs and good manufacturing practices.
- Providing timely feedback on service failures or customer concerns.
- Using PharmaCord Lynk to process claims and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Communicating with medical practice accounts and sales representatives on case statuses.
- Offering consultative services to resolve issues and ensure patients are on paid therapy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
- 6 months of customer service experience, preferably in healthcare or payer benefits.
- Healthcare industry experience or relevant certifications/licenses.
- Bilingualism is a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Sit for extended periods.
- Use hands for typing, handling, and feeling.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute with 97% accuracy.
