Essential Functions
- Informs and advises all employees on benefits matter regarding eligibility, coverage and provisions.
- Resolves issues pertaining to benefit programs, including life, health, and disability insurance, medical/dependent care spending accounts, COBRA, income continuance, and retirement plans.
- Manages leave/accommodation cases, including but not limited to, short-term and long-term disability claims, paid/unpaid leaves (e.g., FMLA, personal leaves and state leaves)
- Maintain HR System for benefits and payroll deductions.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay for assigned divisions with precision and minimal supervision.
- Aid with annual open enrollment including communicating open enrollment guidelines to employees and accurately processing changes in a timely manner.
- Process deductions, garnishments, bonuses, and allowances in adherence to policies and regulations.
- Process vendor invoices related to benefits and payroll in a timely manner.
- Perform basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle.
- Respond to pay-related inquiries from staff.
- Research and resolve errors or omissions.
- Prepare and submit reports and forms required by IRS and other regulatory bodies.
- Aid with payroll process as needed.
- Follows all processing procedures, adheres to policies, and maintains confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax and agency reporting requirements.
- Aid with special projects within the benefits and payroll areas.
- Aid with Workers Compensation processes.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Must possess knowledge of federal, multi-state, and local payroll, wage and hours laws and best practices.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organization.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and self-management
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and growing environment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is desirable
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or equivalent years of experience.
- 5 years progressive HR experience in benefits administration
- Multi-state benefits experience required, California and Arizona required.
- Familiarity with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ACA, and other benefit laws
- Minimal travel required.
Physical Requirements
- Work will be performed in an office.
- Regularly required to sit, reach, stand, and often uses repetitive hand motions.
- Must be able to lift up to 15lbs.
- Requires the visual ability to perform detailed work at close distances (computer screens).
- This job regularly requires verbal communication of detailed information to others either by phone or in person.
Compensation and Benefits
- $75,000 - $80,000 annually
