Benefit Plan Specialist
About the role
Serves as subject matter expert for Nextep's Benefit Plan offerings. Acts as backup to Strategic Benefit Specialist for prospective and current client strategic benefit conversations. Qualifies proposed and current Nextep clients for master medical plan. Reviews prospect and/or existing client benefit offerings, recommends comparable plans and pricing in the underwriting phase. Adjusts rate bands within program guidelines and issues final pricing. Assists with the review of benefit plan performance, membership, participation, enrollment waivers, and compliance within Nextep's benefit offerings. Utilizes internal software to perform and assist with client level plan audits and reporting. Participates and recommends benefits plan design, administration, and regulatory compliance practices. Collaborates with management to design, implement, and optimize comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance plans, and other voluntary options. Assists with the review of internal and external benefit communications and notifications as well as tools that market, enhance understanding, and invite employees to enroll in plans.

Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
- Experience: Three or more years progressive benefits experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Direct work experience with benefit design, analysis & administration, with multi-state and 2,000+ employee benefits eligible population.
- Demonstrates general knowledge of HRIS Payroll Systems, proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in administration, compliance and regulatory aspects of health insurance.
- Health and life insurance license is preferred. Certified Benefits Professional (CBP and/or GBA, RPA) certification is preferred.
