Essential Job Functions

  • Perform general nursing duties.
  • Assess patients’ general condition and take vital signs and history.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Document all activities, interventions and medications in the patient record.
  • Obtain pre-certifications, pre-authorizations and referrals from insurance companies.
  • Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice and instructions.
  • Handles critical lab values and promptly seeks physician orders.
  • Schedules outside referrals.
  • Aids in medical procedures.
  • Answers telephone, schedules patients for office visits and/or hospital tests, sends prescriptions to the pharmacy, and calls patients with test results.
  • Aids in the treatment and care of patients in the office.
  • Maintains exam rooms and other patient areas for the physician to examine the patients.
  • Ensures safety, infection control and other policies and procedures are followed in the office.
  • Performs routine office laboratory procedures.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies needed for patient care.
  • Answers phones, triages telephone patient care issues directly to clinic provider, and covers other nursing personnel when they are not here.
  • Covers other areas as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current license to practice as a CMA/LPN in the state of Oregon.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
