Overview

We are currently searching for a skilled Service Engineer to join a well-known client’s team as a contract role in Santa Monica, California.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with key business and scientific stakeholders to understand ELN business requirements and objectives
  • Analyze existing laboratory processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and automation
  • Configure the Benchling ELN platform to meet user, functional, and compliance requirements
  • Design and develop custom workflows, automations, and system integrations
  • Develop dashboards and custom label reports leveraging Bartender
  • Support Zebra printers and barcoding technologies within lab environments
  • Perform development testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
  • Draft and maintain technical and system documentation
  • Deliver technical solutions aligned with sprint schedules and assess development effort
  • Maintain system performance and ensure ongoing stability and reliability of the ELN platform
  • Follow development best practices, including SDLC and computer system validation standards

Experience

  • Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience implementing and configuring Benchling ELN
  • Experience working within a scientific research or laboratory environment required
  • Experience developing dashboards and custom reports using Bartender
  • Experience with Zebra printers and lab barcoding technologies
  • Demonstrated experience with software development, testing, and troubleshooting

Education

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline required

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of laboratory operations and scientific workflows
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java
  • Knowledge of ELN systems within Process Development and Analytical Testing environments
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
  • Prioritization of delivering high-quality work on tight timelines
  • Solid understanding of SDLC and computer system validation practices
