Behavior Therapist Position
Merrimack Autism Consultants is hiring part-time Behavioral Therapists (BTs) to provide one-on-one, in-home ABA services. We are currently seeking candidates in the Greater Boston areas of Watertown and Somerville. We welcome experienced Behavioral Therapists; however, prior experience is preferred but not required. Comprehensive training and ongoing support are provided to help you build the skills needed to succeed in the role. In-home sessions are typically scheduled between 2:00 PM and 8:30 PM, with some morning and weekend opportunities available. Applicants should be available to work an average of 10-19 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Compensation is competitive and based on education and experience.
- Behavior Therapists work 1:1 directly with clients with autism using individualized ABA techniques created by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
- Provides support and guidance for the parent/caregiver implementing the behavior plan tactics for when the BT/BCBA's are not in the home.
- Collects data focused on skills and behaviors, conducts discrete trials daily to ensure the client's progress is monitored and objectives are met according to the individualized plan.
- Communicates in a timely manner any concerns, progress, etc., to both the client's family and supervisor.
- Completes the 40 hour Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training, sits for and passes the RBT exam, within 90 days of hire.
Qualifications
- You have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and have at least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- You must be 18 years old or older and have reliable, consistent transportation.
- You are able to pass a background check and are authorized to work within the U.S.
- You are able to make a 6 month commitment to our clients.
- You are enthusiastic and passionate about working with children/adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities and are driven to help make a difference.
- CPR certified (will allow 2 week timeline after hire to obtain)
Not Required But Preferred Qualifications
- You have an Associate's Degree in Human Services, Education, or Psychology.
- You are a Registered Behavior Technician with an active certification with the BACB and/or you have at least 6 months working with children with autism.
- You have previous professional experience working in the human services, developmental disabilities, or education fields—teachers, paraprofessionals, Day Programs, Group Home caretakers.
