About the Role

A behavioral specialist is a healthcare professional responsible for ensuring patients receive the best possible care for their mental and behavioral health needs. This role involves working with clinical staff at long-term care facilities to maintain accurate documentation of patient behavioral symptoms, coordinate care with facility staff and BHS clinicians, and summarize patient records for special needs programs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in IDT meetings with nursing facility staff and BHS clinicians
  • Audit charts to promote timely and appropriate behavioral documentation
  • Summarize patient behavioral records for submission to special needs programs
  • Update tracking reports with approved and pending participants
  • Handle administrative duties related to processing and tracking patients on special needs programs

Requirements

  • COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster required
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or related field preferred
  • Two years of experience in a behavioral health setting as CNA, BHT, Medical Assistant, or similar (Educational equivalence can substitute up to one year of experience)
  • Non-violent Crisis Prevention Training preferred; CPI Certification a plus
  • Moderate computer skills; experience with electronic medical records preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, their loved ones, and professionals
  • Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations
  • Ability to write reports and clinical documentation
  • Travel required (compensated)

Job Details

Full-Time, W2 Employment (Monday - Friday). Travel through Tacoma, Olympia, Shelton, and Aberdeen areas is required, with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote work.
