About the Role

The Emergency Department Technician provides support across various areas such as patient care, registration, and monitoring under RN supervision. They assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and observe patient conditions, reporting changes to RNs. Their duties include setting up procedures, operating monitoring equipment, performing phlebotomy, and maintaining supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Monitor patient status and report changes to RNs.
  • Operate monitoring and lab equipment, perform phlebotomy, and assist with emergency procedures.
  • Perform special procedures like venipuncture, splinting, and dressing changes, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized environment.
  • Perform clerical duties including serving as a receptionist, transcribing orders, maintaining records, patient registration, and documentation.
  • Greet patients, gather demographic and insurance information, and ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Deliver compassionate patient care tailored to individual needs, adhering to hospital policies and core values.
  • Adapt care to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Completion of relevant training programs (e.g., Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, PT Care Tech) or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years patient care experience in acute, emergency, or military settings preferred.
  • Required certifications: BLS, with ongoing maintenance of CNA, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or EMT license.
