Behavioral Medicine Specialist

About the Role

This position involves evaluating and diagnosing mental and behavioral health conditions in primary care members, with a focus on integrating behavioral health into medical treatment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and assess treatment plans using principles of Health Psychology, including crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and case management.
• Prepare intake evaluations, maintain confidential progress records, and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Provide education and support to members and families to promote adherence to medical and behavioral regimens.
• Co-manage medical conditions through behavioral interventions to optimize physician utilization.
• Administer and evaluate psychological and neuropsychological tests as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians on screening and evaluating patients for psychotropic medications within scope of practice.
• Offer consultation and training to team members on mental health and behavioral medicine topics.
• Contribute to program development, evaluation, and outcome assessments.
• Coordinate referrals to specialty behavioral services and other medical teams.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD, EdD) in Clinical Counseling, Health, or School Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Psychologist license required within six months of hire; license from any state acceptable at hire.
• National Provider Identifier (NPI) required at hire.
• Experience in diagnosis, crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, and collaboration with medical staff.
• Knowledge of state regulations, APA standards, and confidentiality requirements.
• Ability to work effectively in a team within a primary care setting and in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with psychopharmacology.
• Experience in multidisciplinary settings.
