About the Role
In partnership with local school districts, students who commit infractions receive academic instruction and socio-emotional support to reduce repeat offenses. Help Zones are designed to intervene in crises, deescalate, and get students back into the classroom within 5-30 minutes. The Behavior Intervention Specialist works to create a youth/family/faculty-friendly presence within the school, founded on cooperative relationships and direct communication.
Schedule
Full-time, 11-month position. Work hours may overlap the school day (before and after school). Special events or projects may occasionally take place during early evenings and/or on weekends.
Responsibilities
- Administers, coordinates, and oversees the program on-site
- Works with School Administrators to ensure services meet identified needs and attends regular meetings with them
- Attends School Support Service meetings
- Delivers a restorative-based system
- Creates and oversees data collection and program evaluation processes
- Provides monthly reports to the Director of School-Based Programs
- Coordinates requests for Prevention Education services
- Conducts outreach and information dissemination
- Manages referrals and ensures referral readiness
- Provides immediate response and support
- Delivers prevention education with fidelity, including asset-building groups, research-based curricula, and booster sessions
- Organizes asset development activities (risk reduction and protective factors)
- Provides alternatives to suspension services, including pre/post assessments and transitional services
- Acts as an agency ambassador and liaison at meetings, open houses, and health fairs
- Researches and designs services, including outcome and impact tracking
- Develops and maintains resource files, lesson plans, and training aids
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field AND 1-3 years of related experience
- Master's Degree preferred

- Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development
- Understanding of risk reduction and protective factors
- Proficiency in child and adolescent development principles
- Strong crisis management and behavior management techniques
- Familiarity with community resources
- Client advocacy skills
Pay
$20 - $22 per hour
