About the role
A Behavioral Intervention Specialist provides direct behavioral and therapeutic support to individuals in a structured day treatment setting. The specialist implements individualized treatment and behavior plans under the supervision of clinical staff to promote emotional regulation, positive behavior, and skill development.
Responsibilities
- Implement behavior intervention and treatment plans as assigned.
- Support clients during group activities, classroom instruction, and therapeutic sessions.
- Monitor behaviors and use approved deescalation and behavior management strategies.
- Collect and document behavioral data, progress notes, and incident reports.
- Assist clients with coping skills, social skills, and daily routines.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
- Collaborate with clinicians, teachers, and treatment team members.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or adolescents with behavioral or emotional needs (preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, education, or a related field (required) OR a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience working with children or adolescents with behavioral or emotional needs.
- Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills.
