Behavioral Health Youth Mentor/Skills Trainer
About the role
As a Youth Mentor, you will build structured and positive relationships with young people, empowering them to thrive in their daily lives. Your services will primarily be delivered in community settings, supporting youth with identified behavioral and cognitive health needs placed in ODHS foster homes. Youth mentoring is client-centered, provided at times that best support the youth, including evenings, early mornings, and occasional weekends.
Responsibilities
- Use evidence-based approaches, such as Motivational Interviewing and Collaborative Problem Solving, to help youth identify and achieve their personal goals.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of relevant experience (additional education and/or life experience may substitute)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (provided by the agency)
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification (provided by the agency)
- Ability to pass fingerprinting and background checks
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and auto insurance
