Behavioral Health Technician - Second Shift

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct care and supervision to clients receiving treatment services, maintaining a safe, supportive environment while assisting clients in following their individualized treatment plans.

Location: Newport News, VA.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the intake and admission process for new clients.
• Communicate effectively with team members through verbal updates and written documentation.
• Provide direct client support and actively listen to treatment needs.
• Maintain a structured, safe, and therapeutic environment, including crisis intervention when necessary.
• Coordinate and facilitate scheduled activities, including educational lectures, recreation, and group meetings.
• Conduct mandatory bed checks and complete detailed shift reports.
• Participate in shift changes, team meetings, and company meetings.
• Ensure clients follow daily schedules and treatment plans.
• Monitor the medication line in accordance with policy.
• Transport clients to meetings, appointments, and recreational activities as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous behavioral health or human services experience preferred.
