About the role
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) or Mental Health Technician (MHT) supports behavioral health care delivery by providing supervised clinical and administrative services to enhance the well-being, readiness, and functioning of personnel.
Responsibilities
- Supports behavioral health care delivery by providing supervised clinical and administrative services to enhance the well-being, readiness, and functioning of personnel.
- Assists with intake procedures, treatment support, therapeutic activities, data tracking, and coordination across behavioral health programs.
- Works under the authority of a licensed provider, assisting with care and treatment of psychiatric, drug and alcohol clients, and counseling clients with personal, behavioral or psychological problems.
- Performs a full range of standard and non-standard work assignments and resolves a variety of non-recurring problems encountered on their own initiative.
- Observes clients to detect behavior patterns and reports observations to licensed behavioral health staff.
- Leads prescribed individual or group therapy sessions as part of specific therapeutic procedures under the guidance of a licensed mental health professional.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a psychiatric technician.
- Associate degree or commensurate level of training, e.g. military mental health technician, for a psychiatric technician or mental health program assistant.
- Education requirement may be met by military or comparable training.
- Military trained, the individual’s specialty must be as a mental health technician / specialist.
- Trained to intervene and, when required, to restrain violent or potentially violent or suicidal clients by verbal or physical means.
Qualifications
- Clearance: Secret or Top-Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain clearance.
- Location: Various OCONUS & CONUS SITES.

Pay
The likely hourly rate for this position is between $17.33 - $23.45. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
