Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician serves as a key member of the treatment team, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and engagement of clients throughout their treatment experience.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with clients.
- Affiliate with admissions, orientations, and intake procedures.
- Provide clear communication and support to clients during the admission process.
- Monitor client wellbeing and promptly report changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral status to clinical staff.
- Conduct regular headcounts and maintain awareness of client locations throughout the facility.
- Facilitate orientation groups and encourage participation in treatment programming.
- Affiliate with clients experiencing emotional distress and assist with de-escalation efforts.
- Monitor and supervise family visits in accordance with facility policies.
- Affiliate with clients during medication pass when appropriate.
- Complete all required documentation, shift reports, and checklists accurately and timely.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the facility.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
- Protect client confidentiality and maintain compliance with HIPAA and all applicable regulations.
- Exercise sound judgment and seek supervisory support when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass required background screenings and drug testing.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Current CDCA (Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant) certification in the State of Ohio.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, mental health services, healthcare, or a related field.
- Relevant college coursework in psychology, social work, counseling, criminal justice, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with individuals in recovery or behavioral health settings.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Ability to respond appropriately during emergency situations.
- Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout overnight shifts.
