Description

The Behavioral Health Technician assists in providing a safe environment for individuals. Key responsibilities include:

  • Records inventory log of all personal belongings, valuables and return ticket.
  • Completes required lab requisitions per protocol.
  • Maintains client safety and wellbeing by monitoring clients at all times, including specific rounds and logging their whereabouts.
  • De-escalates and monitors clients, reporting any changes in condition.
  • Maintains proper disposal of garbage and ensures cleanliness of group rooms.
  • Ensures continuity of care by maintaining a logbook and participating in shift turnovers.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in required training.
  • Supports clients emotionally, refers them to therapy, and completes assigned paperwork.
  • Communicates with other staff to promote quality client care.
  • Maintains a clean, properly supplied, and efficient work area.
  • Observes and reports safety and maintenance issues.
  • Interacts appropriately with clients, showing respect while maintaining boundaries.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and exercises sound judgment.
  • Protects client privacy in accordance with facility policies.
  • Transports clients as needed.

Essential Duties

Additional duties include:

  • Supervises clients completing the Program with emphasis on safety and well-being.
  • Reminds clients of program rules and regulations and reports infractions immediately.
  • Communicates with therapy staff to address clinical issues.
  • Participates in maintaining clean, properly supplied, and efficient work areas.
  • Interacts appropriately with clients, showing respect while maintaining boundaries.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and exercises sound judgment.
  • Protects privacy of all client information in accordance with facility privacy policies and procedures.
  • Transports clients as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED preferred.
  • Experience working in substance abuse and/or mental health preferred.
  • Valid state driving license with no major violations in past five (5) years.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as well as be flexible and dependable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Empathetic and non-judgmental approach when working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

  • Temperature-controlled environment 80%-90% of the time spent indoors.
  • Potential exposure to violent situations.
