Responsibilities
- Aid in conducting clinical assessments and monitoring patient behavior to identify needs and progress.
- Provide direct patient care and support, including crisis intervention and management during acute episodes.
- Maintain detailed and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and discharge plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment and discharge plans.
- Support patients with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) by applying therapeutic techniques and ensuring a safe environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Behavioral Health Technician training program or relevant certification preferred.
- Experience in clinical documentation and patient care within a mental health or behavioral health setting.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and ability to respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Familiarity with mental health disorders, including Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED), and related treatment approaches.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in psychology, social work, nursing, or a related field.
- Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent crisis management training.
- Experience working with pediatric or adolescent populations in behavioral health settings.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and clinical documentation software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Skills
- Utilize clinical documentation skills daily to ensure accurate recording of patient interactions, treatment progress, and incidents, which supports continuity of care and regulatory compliance.
- Employ crisis management and intervention skills to respond promptly and effectively to behavioral emergencies, ensuring patient and staff safety.
- Apply clinical assessment abilities to observe and report changes in patient status, contributing valuable information for treatment planning.
- Draw upon knowledge of mental health conditions, including Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED), to deliver appropriate patient care and support.
- Maintain thorough documentation and collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate coordinated care and successful patient outcomes.
