About the Role

The Behavioral Health Tech II (BHT II) supports patients throughout their treatment journey, from admission to discharge. This role contributes to the treatment planning process and focuses on patient safety, interventions, psychoeducational groups, and overall patient support.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all DBH policies and procedures while maintaining a positive, respectful attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Demonstrate understanding and respect for cultural and lifestyle diversity, and maintain professional boundaries and ethics.
  • Follow directions from facility leadership and maintain confidentiality of patient and facility information.
  • Facilitate patient daily needs, including waking/bedtime routines, hygiene, meals/snacks, bathroom safety observations, and free time.
  • Assist Nursing staff with patient supervision, vitals, room searches, patient searches, and other duties as directed.
  • Recognize, respond to, and assist in crisis situations, providing appropriate interventions.
  • Consistently report to work on time and prepared to perform duties.
  • Assist in implementing individual patient treatment plans as directed by the clinical team.
  • Support patients during admission and discharge processes, including checking belongings and acclimating patients to the program.
  • Monitor patient activity and document significant issues, completing all required shift notes, group notes, and documentation by the end of the shift.
  • Maintain an organized and safe environment, performing basic housekeeping duties and conducting regular facility and grounds checks.
  • Facilitate and lead daily groups as directed by facility leadership, if applicable.
  • Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings, and complete all online training and policy verifications.
  • Provide transportation services, including patient transportation, errands, shopping, admits, outings, etc. (must be pre-qualified to drive a company vehicle).
  • For the Eating Disorder Division: Supervise and support patients during mealtimes, eating meals and snacks with patients while refraining from comments/actions that contradict the CFD Clinical Model and Dietary CARE model.
  • Familiarize and adopt the Philosophy, Mission, Goals, and Objectives of the Center for Discovery treatment programs.
  • Gain basic knowledge of the clinical orientation and interventions used at Center for Discovery.
  • For Residential Treatment: Pass medicine where permissible (training and certification provided).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • One or more years of experience working within the mental health, substance use, or eating disorder field preferred.
  • Valid and unrestricted State Driver’s License.

Schedule

Full-time: 11pm–7am, Monday–Wednesday and Saturdays.
