Behavioral Health Specialist, Social Work/Counselor III - Prairie Vista

About the role

The position is open only to Colorado state residents. This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies. The Division of Youth Services (DYS) provides a continuum of residential and non-residential services for juvenile detention, commitment, and parole. DYS manages fifteen secure facilities and contracts with various private providers. The Division oversees Colorado Youth Detention Continuum, a State-funded program.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload and conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions using evidence-based treatment theories.
• Monitor medication effectiveness in conjunction with the facility psychiatrist.
• Provide clinical assessment, including recognizing signs and symptoms of specific DSM-5 diagnoses, and identify youth needing additional assessments.
• Develop therapeutic rapport with youth and engage family members in the process of stabilizing and transitioning youth.
• Collaborate with the medical team and psychiatrist regarding psychotropic medication assessment or continuation.
• Coordinate with educational and vocational systems to ensure appropriate academic services are provided.
• Facilitate Community Review Teams as needed for Individual Growth and Change Plans and other interventions.
• Assess progress and barriers to progress, and document all case management and therapeutic services in the Fusion Electronic Health Record system.
• Follow Sanctuary/ROCK Program.
• Train others in facility on best practice treatment delivery approaches.
• Participate in clinical supervision and treatment team meetings.
• Document in approved EHR a treatment note for all individual and group sessions in DAP format.

Requirements

• Current, valid Colorado or State participating in the Social Work Licensure Compact licensure as a: Licensed Social Worker (LSW) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) OR Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) OR Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC).
• One (1) year of experience with current, valid licensure from a state participating in the Social Work Licensure Compact based on the work assigned to the position.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: 21 years of age, no felony convictions or history of domestic violence, full background check and reference check required, State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment, valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License.

Schedule

5 days a week which includes a Saturday or Sunday, and the possibility of four (4) 10-hour shifts also including a Saturday or Sunday. Work arrangements are subject to change at any time.
