About the role
The National Youth Advocate Program is seeking interns for its STAR (School-Based) team in the Columbus region. The internships offer hands-on experience in providing mental health services, case management, and community-based support to youth and families.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual, group, and family mental health services
- Perform case management
- Transport youth and families as needed
- Complete required documentation in a timely manner
- Participate in weekly supervision process
- Coordinate and monitor services for youth and families in mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services
- Regularly review and modify youth-based plans to ensure consistent progress and success on plan goals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution
- Enrolled in an accredited institution for a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Master’s in Clinical Counseling
- An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution
- Experience working in direct service with youth and families is preferred
- A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours
- Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function
- Proficient use of various computer software and devices
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Good driving record and minimum automobile insurance coverage
Qualifications
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
Skills
- Proficiency with desktop and laptop computers
- Proficiency with smart phones and tablets
- Proficiency with printers, fax machines, and photocopiers
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
Benefits
