Behavioral Health Safety Officer EOW/EOH Days

About the role

Under the direction of the ED Nurse Director or designee, provides support to the patient care team by offering constant observation and monitoring of assigned patients to ensure safety and prevention of injury. Supports direct caregivers and patients by maintaining a clean and prepared environment, stocking supplies, and performing environmental and patient-related duties as directed by the RN.

Responsibilities

• Provide constant observation and monitoring of assigned patients to ensure safety and prevent injury.
• Support direct caregivers and patients by maintaining a clean and ready environment.
• Stock supplies and provide environmental support.
• Perform duties directly related to patient care as directed by the RN.
• Physically restrain out-of-control individuals after completing required training.
• Utilize effective communication and de-escalation skills with patients of diverse ages, populations, and cultural/ethical backgrounds.

Requirements

• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Successful completion of de-escalation and restraint training within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to ensure a safe environment.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; must see, hear, and speak well.
• Basic computer skills (may be acquired through on-the-job training).
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting, inpatient mental health unit, or related experience.
• Minimum of a high school education or equivalent.

Pay

$19.81 - $28.30 per hour (Grade 4). Base pay is determined by skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other essential factors.
