About the role

The Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services has transitioned to the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health effective October 1, 2025. This change reflects the department's ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive, person-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate nursing/medical needs of patients
  • Initiate and direct implementation of the nursing care plan
  • Observe, evaluate, and record patient behavior and condition
  • Administer medications and treatment as ordered by the physician
  • Assist with physical examinations
  • Respond to emergency situations
  • Direct delivery of and evaluate psychiatric/nursing care of patients delivered by professional and nonprofessional staff
  • Serve as an interdisciplinary treatment team member

Requirements

  • Current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field
  • Must have a minimum of two years of experience in a clinical setting

  • Pay range of #13 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule
  • Additional $1.50 per hour shift differential for hours worked from 3:00 pm -7:00 am
  • Additional $3.60 per hour retention supplement for hours worked from 3:00 - 7:00 am
  • Hourly retention supplements available for education and certifications
  • Longevity supplement after 5 years of service
  • Service supplement 2% at 12-24 months; 4% at 25-48 months; and 5% at 49 plus months

Pay

$74,901 - $104,770
