JOB SPECIFICS
The Behavioral Health Provider is responsible for providing mental health services and promoting behavioral change to patients with a range of concerns, from psychosocial considerations to physical and mental health issues. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting psychosocial evaluations grounded in behavioral medicine knowledge.
- Quickly assessing, diagnosing, and synthesizing medical and psychiatric data to develop effective, evidence-based clinical recommendations.
- Selecting and interpreting self-report questionnaires to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Consulting and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team for optimal treatment planning.
- Using motivational interviewing as the foundation of communication with patients and families.
- Monitoring patient progress and revising treatment goals as necessary.
- Performing duties in accordance with the specific needs of the practice, assisting with group work and/or educational offerings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
- Experience: Competency in providing a broad range and mix of brief cognitive and/or behaviorally-based interventions.
- Licenses/Certifications: Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor (LMFT) required. Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations.
- Skills/Knowledge: Evidence of being flexible, high-energy, and team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc. Ability to efficiently document in electronic health record. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and have access to a car.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: 3 years post-licensure experience providing counseling. Experience and/or knowledge base working with patients with chronic disease.
- Specialized Training: Specialized training in health psychology; experience working in primary care settings. Demonstrated intermediate to advanced competency in deploying evidence-based practices commonly used in PC settings, i.e. Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Problem Solving Therapy (PST), Behavioral Activation (BA), Relapse Prevention, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), biofeedback, etc. Experience with psychological assessment and treatment of children and adolescents.
- Other Skills/Knowledge: Medical terminology. Will be required to take a baseline medical terminology course within 180 days beginning employment.
