Behavioral Health Physician - Consult Liaison

Overview

Join Sentara Health’s interdisciplinary Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry team, providing expert psychiatric care to medically complex and emergent patients across Sentara’s facilities. You’ll work closely with ED, medical, and surgical teams, supported by licensed therapists, behavioral health navigators, and a systemwide psychiatric response network.

Practice Highlights

• Primary assignment at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital
• Schedule: 7 on/ 7 off (7a-7p)
• Daily co-management of ED behavioral health patients
• Inpatient consults on behavioral, medical, and surgical units
• Virtual consult support to lower-volume facilities
• No inpatient psych admissions (handled by dedicated inpatient psychiatrists)
• Strong interdisciplinary support: APPs, therapists, navigators, case managers

Key Responsibilities

• Pychiatric consultation for complex medical and co-occurring conditions
• Diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning
• Meditation management and crisis intervention
• Collaborative, team-based care across hospital services
• Supervision of APPs and students as needed
