Behavioral Health PARS Crisis Clinician
About the role
PARKLAND MEDICAL CENTER is seeking a BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PARS CRISIS CLINICIAN to join our team. This position works in a collegial and collaborative environment, often coordinating care with multiple disciplines and providers.
Responsibilities
- PAR clinicians provide assessment and triage services to patients who present to any of 6 Emergency Departments in the hospital network.
- Completes biopsychosocial assessment including mental status exam and level of care required in a timely manner.
- Provides information to patients and families regarding behavioral health resources for treatment.
- Performs functions of an Involuntary Emergency Admission as needed, including acting as petitioner when necessary, and attending/following through with the court system for the Probable Cause Hearing.
- Works actively with hospital staff/providers in a liaison capacity around patient evaluations and transfer issues, and provides biopsychosocial assessments when requested by the provider.
- Is knowledgeable of, and practices, all de-escalation techniques.
- Obtains informed consent from patients.
- Educates patient regarding Patients Rights.
- Obtains signature that indicates understanding. Gives copy to patient.
- Congnitions transfer of patients from other facilities for admission to the Behavioral Health Unit.
- Responds to Code Grays as necessary.
- Filings abuse reports according to policy as necessary.
- Maintains accurate count of available beds through monitoring daily census.
- Coordinates and reviews direct referrals and screens for admission to the BHU.
- Assists on patient unit as requested by PARS Coordinator, Nursing Supervisor, Program Director.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field required.
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
