Behavioral Health Nurse Director (RN)

Horizon Health and Subacute, a Generations Healthcare facility in Fresno, CA, is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Nurse Director to join our new Special Treatment Program.

About the Role

The Behavioral Health Nurse Director oversees the Behavioral Health nursing staff and ensures the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care within our locked inpatient treatment program. In collaboration with the Behavioral Health team, this role fosters a culture of patient-centered nursing care and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, standards, and guidelines for the facility.

Responsibilities

• Supervise nursing staff in providing safe, effective, and compassionate care to residents in a locked psychiatric setting.
• Recruit, train, and mentor nursing staff, ensuring compliance with best practices and organizational policies. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing professional development.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans for residents, ensuring their physical and mental health needs are met.
• Develop and enforce nursing protocols and procedures in accordance with state regulations and accreditation standards.
• Lead and participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation efforts, ensuring a safe environment for both staff and residents.
• Monitor patient care outcomes and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of resident care activities, including assessments, interventions, and evaluations, in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
• Provide ongoing training and education to nursing staff on psychiatric best practices, medication management, and therapeutic communication.

Requirements

• Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of psychiatric nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role preferred.
• Basic Life Support Certification required.
• Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or moderate to severe mental illness preferred.

Benefits

Pay

$114,000 - $120,000 per year.

This position requires successful completion of a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
