Behavioral Health Counselor

Qualifications

• Masters Degree from an accredited program in Counseling, Social Work, or related field
• Oklahoma license as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), licensed professional counselor (LPC), or similar credentials
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong understanding of diagnostic techniques and treatment therapies related to behavioral health
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
• Experience treating across the life span (children through adult) and substance abuse disorders
• Experience with ICD-10, and CPT coding
• Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Valid driver license and insurable

Responsibilities and Duties

• Developing individualized treatment plans based on the specific needs of each client
• Providing counseling sessions to individuals, groups, and families across the lifespan
• Utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and/or other therapeutic approaches to help clients understand and change their behaviors
• Coordinating with other healthcare providers to ensure a comprehensive approach to care
• Monitoring clients’ progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary
• Educating clients and their families about mental health conditions and coping strategies
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with confidentiality laws and ethical guidelines
• Working with clients to identify situations or behaviors that interfere with their recovery
• Referring clients to additional resources and services, such as support groups, inpatient treatment facilities, or vocational training programs
• Staying informed about the latest research and developments in behavioral health
