Behavioral Health Clinician III (BHC III)

Pioneer Human Services is seeking a Behavioral Health Clinician III (BHC III) (Mental Health Counselor) to join our mission-driven team. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals in need.

Responsibilities

• Provides evidence-based and research-supported mental health and psychosocial interventions through problem-solving, case management, and group facilitation in accordance with program policy and the clients’ Individual Service Plan
• Diagnoses mental health conditions and/or substance use disorders in accordance with the most recently published Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (e.g., DSM-5) and ASAM requirements
• Collaborates with other Pioneer behavioral healthcare providers and community partners based upon the clients’ Individual Service Plan
• Provides behavioral health services based upon identified treatment needs specified in the clients’ Individual Service Plan and in accordance with employee’s education, training and certification
• Complies with documentation and filing requirements according to applicable WACs, agency, and funder policies
• Recognizes, respects, and maintains professional boundaries with clients
• Develops and maintains working knowledge of community resources
• Affords assistance to first responders as needed (i.e., police and medical personnel)
• Must be available to perform the essential functions of this job whenever scheduled to work
• Attends shift/staff meetings and actively participates in planning, coordination and communication of all types, which will contribute to the delivery of quality professional services
• Utilizes critical thinking and judgment to identify the most professional therapeutic reaction or intervention in client care
• Documents observations in daily notes in accordance with program policy
• Promotes and models teamwork and collaboration with coworkers
• Maintains quality of care consistent with or exceeding standards set by federal, state, local, internal, and contract requirements
• Affords assistance in the development of treatment methodologies and educational offerings in accordance with client needs as determined by program leadership
• Adheres to professional and ethical standards for behavioral health services
• Retrieves client and program data as needed
• Completes peer file audits to ensure accuracy and quality of documentation and services
• Participates in agency supervision toward obtaining and maintaining licensure, in support of evidence-based practices, and in accordance with applicable WAC and RCW requirements
• Obtains additional training required by applicable WACs and in accordance with annual training plan
• For positions in 24-hour locations, obtains and maintains a valid Washington State Food Handler's permit within one week of hire
• For positions in 24-hour locations, becomes CPR & First Aid certified within 90 days of hire (or as soon as possible) and maintains throughout employment

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in mental health, behavioral health, or related human services field with curriculum related to counseling and psychology
• Current mental health associate’s license (i.e., LMHCA, LMFTA, LSWAA, LSWAIC) or be a Mental Health Professional and an Agency Affiliated Counselor
• Mental Health Professional (MHP) criteria in Washington state
• Experience in direct treatment of person(s) with mental illness or emotional disturbance, such experience gained under the supervision of a mental health professional recognized by the department or attested to by the licensed behavioral health agency
• Ability to obtain & maintain AAC credential within 60 days of hire – per WAC requirements

Qualifications

• Preferably 1 year of experience in mental health, behavioral health, or another related human services field
• SUDP/SUDPT (dually credentialed) if designated by the work location
• Valid driver’s license, personal auto insurance, and a driver's abstract/driving record acceptable to Pioneer’s auto insurance company

Skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Benefits

Compensation starts between $29.12 and $38.83 hourly, depending on factors such as work location, experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity, and market conditions.
