About the Role

This is a part-time, 20-hour position offering care to students within the School Based Health Center at Boothbay Regional High School and Elementary School in Boothbay Harbor, a picturesque seaside community. The role provides a flexible schedule with the option of year-round employment or working the school calendar. This position is eligible for student loan repayment through the National Health Service Corps.

The behavioral health clinician works closely with the school-based health center medical provider and school personnel to support students. This role reduces stigma and increases students' willingness to participate in care by providing easy access in the environment where they spend most of their day.

Responsibilities

  • Provide screening, assessments, and focused brief treatment to students, including individual, family, and group therapy.
  • Offer curbside consultation to providers and link students to additional services and supports.
  • Participate in population health activities targeting the health and wellbeing of specific groups.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and other integrated clinicians within the MaineHealth system.
  • Maintain clinical records and participate in team meetings for effective treatment and discharge planning.

Requirements

Maine state licensure to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is preferred. Candidates with experience practicing as a Licensed Masters Social Worker - Clinical Conditional (LMSW-CC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor - Conditional (LCPC-c), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Conditional (LMFT-c) will also be considered.

  • Comfort working with children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Knowledge of and interest in treating substance use disorders is preferred.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, Addiction Treatment, or related field.

License/Certifications

  • Level I: LMSW-cc, LCPC-c, or LMFT-c from the State of Maine Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation (OPOR).
  • Level II: Licensed LCPC, LCSW, or LMFT from the State of Maine Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation (OPOR).

Experience

  • Level I: Behavioral health experience including internship prior to becoming a conditionally licensed clinician.
  • Level II: At least two years of behavioral health experience including employment as a conditionally licensed clinician.
