About the role
The Behavioral Health Clinician provides mental health screening, substance abuse screening, brief intervention, brief therapy/psychotherapy, and referral to services for adult patients in crisis. The Clinician conducts initial intake assessments, crisis intervention, and clinical determination for level of care. The Clinician works with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health associates, nurses, and off-site behavioral health staff. The Clinician is responsible for ongoing care coordination on individuals in behavioral health crisis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health and substance abuse screenings
- Provide brief intervention, brief therapy/psychotherapy, and referrals to services
- Perform initial intake assessments and crisis intervention
- Determine clinical level of care for patients
- Coordinate ongoing care for individuals in behavioral health crisis
- Complete required documentation timely and in accordance with State regulations
- Participate in multi-disciplinary treatment planning
- Assess patients’ behavioral health and substance use needs through screening
- Deliver brief motivationally informed interventions to promote healthy behavior change
- Connect patients with the appropriate level of care
Requirements
- Master's degree in the Behavioral Health Field, such as Social Work or Counseling, is required
- Experience working in a medical setting is preferred
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required (new hires must obtain prior to completion of orientation)
- LCSW or LPC preferred; LCSW eligible or LPC eligible within 3 months of employment required
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological stages of human growth and development
- Competent to provide assessment, care, and treatment appropriate to the age group of patients served
- Competent to successfully interact with patients according to their special needs based on age
- Familiarity with local resources and their programs
- Prior academic or practical training in motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Pay
$29.40 - $44.10 per hour
