About the role

Join our team at RHA Health Services as an Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) Certified Peer Support Specialist. This role provides highly individualized services in the community, promoting self-determination and decision-making for individuals with mental health or substance abuse issues. You will offer essential expertise and consultation to the team, ensuring each individual’s preferences are recognized and integrated into treatment and community activities. This position may also serve as an advocate for the people supported.

You will perform a wide range of tasks to assist individuals in regaining control over their recovery processes, using strength-based interventions focused on recovery, symptom reduction, increased coping skills, and community functioning. As a role model, you will demonstrate competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills.

Responsibilities

  • Model effective coping and self-help techniques to individuals
  • Provide empowerment skills and support in successful recovery living
  • Assist individuals in finding resources, advising on processes, and encouraging follow-through with resolutions
  • Locate social activities or provide other assistance as needed
  • Lead peer support groups with individuals served
  • Support and assist individuals in daily decision-making and resolution of minor problems
  • Facilitate social opportunities in the community
  • Foster development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities
  • Share personal story of recovery and resilience to instill hope

Requirements

  • Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in PA
  • 1 year of experience working with individuals with behavioral health issues preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation

Pre-employment screening includes: criminal background check, registry checks (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities), drug testing, education verification, and credentialing based on position requirements. Proof of employment history or references may be required. Positions requiring driving will need proof of driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle.

Pay

$20/hour, dependent upon experience. $2000 stay bonus paid in increments: $400 at 3 months, $400 at 6 months, and $1200 at 12 months.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend coverage and on-call responsibilities.
