About the role

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people in rural, southwest Alaska. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. This position provides case management services for clients seen in the Emergency Room for emergency services, coordinates travel, meals, and lodging for clients, and provides substance abuse screening, assessments, and case management support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management services for clients seen in the Emergency Room for emergency services.
  • Cookordinate travel, meals, and lodging for clients and their escorts being seen in the Emergency Room for Behavioral Health care.
  • Provide substance abuse screening, assessments, and case management support to clients who present to the hospital for emergent/urgent care due to substance abuse and are requesting residential care.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions as directed.
  • Track and conduct follow up calls to clients who were recently discharged from Emergency Services.
  • Provide case management services to assure clients are linked to appropriate follow up care.
  • Perform other case management duties as assigned that support emergency services care.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Associates degree in Social Work or Human Service field or a closely related field preferred.
  • Minimum Experience: Case management and/or direct care work desirable. Two (2) years experience in the field of Behavioral Health or similar Community Service.
  • Licenses, Certifications, Registrations: Certification in Substance Abuse Counseling preferred, or willingness to become certified.
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Basic counseling skills and knowledge of rehabilitative services preferred. Ability to assume responsibility, meet deadlines and follow schedules with minimal supervision. Good computer skills. Yup’ik/English bilingual preferred.

Qualifications
