Behavioral Health Associate - Part Time

About the role

Coachella Valley Behavioral Health is a new, state-of-the-art inpatient facility in Indio, California, providing clinically excellent treatment for adults with mental health concerns and substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a sense of urgency related to patient safety and provide excellent customer services.
• Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive and structured environment.
• Conduct safety checks and ensure supervision is conducted at 15-minute intervals as needed.
• Document timely, accurate and appropriate clinical information in the patient's medical record.
• Aid in maintaining a safe, secure and comfortable environment for patients, significant others and staff.
• Interact with patients, observe behaviors and communicate significant observations to nursing staff.
• May oversee or assist patients with activities of daily living, including toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, meals, snacks, hydration and changing bed linens.
• May obtain patient's vital signs, height and weight as assigned and document in the patient record.
• Facilitate patient educational-rehabilitative groups covering topics such as social skills, coping skills, anger management and independent living skills.
• Engage patients in activities and interactions designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals.
• Complete and maintain required documentation.
• Absorb and assist with follow-up and paperwork as required on incidents and events within the facility.
• Provide transportation for patients or coordinate transportation with appropriate staff members.
• Display a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers.
• Resolve complaints when patient needs are not met and recognize patient safety as a top priority.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or more experience working with the specific population of the facility preferred.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Compensation for roles at Coachella Valley Behavioral Health varies depending on various factors including location, role, and skill set. A reasonable hourly range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California is provided as required by local law.

Schedule

The position is part-time with accruals, offering 24 hours per week, either during the day or night shift.
