About the role

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people across rural, southwest Alaska. The position is based in Quinhagak, a village with a population of about 10, and Bethel, the regional hub with a population of nearly 7,000.

Responsibilities

  • Provides substance use assessments, crisis stabilization, case management, screenings, and rehabilitation services.
  • Works under the supervision of a licensed clinician.
  • Develops a plan to obtain Substance Abuse Counselor certification and advance to BHA-I certification.
  • Participates in a specialized BHA-I training program and a 100-hour clinical practicum under direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High school or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum Experience: Two (2) years experience in Community Services, preferably documented.
  • Mature judgment and ability to communicate, retrieve, and present data and information verbally, written, and electronically.
  • Flexible with work schedule and ability to perform independent actions within prescribed limits.
  • Computer skills and good telephone etiquette.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, bilingual Yup'ik/English/Regional preferred.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of communication skills and motivation sufficient for learning in behavioral health counseling field.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to learn counseling skills through in-service training.
  • Ability to effectively present information.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Pay

$19.00 per hour.

Schedule

Full time, 40 hours per week.
