Behavioral Direct Support Professional / Caregiver

About the role

As a Behavioral Support Professional / Caregiver, you'll offer support, guidance, and assistance to individuals with mental, intellectual & developmental, and physical disabilities. Your aim is empowering them to live independently with dignity and respect. You will enhance the quality of life for individuals with complex mental health and behavioral support needs.

Responsibilities

• Handle with Care Training to ensure your safety and success supporting individuals using a team-based approach that best meets their complex care needs.
• Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
• Ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals we serve.
• Assist with daily living tasks such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, and more.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation.
• Build relationships with persons served and teammates.
• Attend special community occasions and fun activities like outdoor walks, games, and social events.
• Transport persons served to appointments or other activities outside the home.
• Empower people with disabilities to live life to the fullest.
• Document progress, milestones, and action steps.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Good communication skills for documenting care, following support plans, and collaborating with team members.
• Valid driver’s license (due to transporting persons served).
• Comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons served as required.
• Some positions/locations may require your own personal vehicle and auto-liability insurance.
• A successful background clearance is required as part of the onboarding/employment process.

Qualifications

• Excitement for working with adults with disabilities.
• Experience with adults with mental health issues, disabilities, or related experience (nice to have).

Pay

Starting $17 - $20/hour (on weekends); non-drivers $16-$17.50/hour.
