Behavioral Counselor-Inpatient Adult Mental Health Intense

Responsibilities

• Complete mental health assessments, safety rounds, vital signs, weights, and assigned area-specific procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provide therapeutic patient support through milieu and skill-building groups, one-on-one supervision, communication, and de-escalation assistance under RN direction.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, call lights, simple procedures, specimen collection, and other care needs according to standards.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment while using a holistic approach that considers each patient’s physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, and safety needs.
• Demonstrate reliability, initiative, teamwork, openness to feedback, and commitment to quality care, customer service, and department goals.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health related field Required.
• Experience: Previous healthcare and behavioral healthcare experience preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused.
