Job Overview
Roles And Responsibilities
The Behavioral Assistant supports the implementation of behavior plans for students, participates in ongoing training in specialized strategies and interventions, and uses these strategies to address recurring behavioral situations under the supervision of staff.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED supplemented by course work in child development or a related field
- Experience working with students with behavioral challenges on the autism spectrum, emotional/behavioral disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and/or other developmental disabilities
- Knowledge, abilities, and skills to effectively manage the behaviors of children with behavioral and learning challenges
- Ability to collect, record, and use behavioral and instructional data
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits and/or remains in a stationary position for long periods of time
- Erects up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amounts of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Reports to: Principal
