Behavioral and Achievement Interventions Teacher

About the Role

To provide students of Sikeston R-6 Schools with additional resources for educational instruction that will foster and accelerate their intellectual, physical, social, and career development in accordance with district policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Act as the responsible agent for the direct instruction of students and be knowledgeable of the subject(s) assigned to teach.
• Maintain clear and up-to-date lesson plans.
• Conduct assigned activities in conformity with the approved policies of the Board of Education.
• Relate plans to clearly defined objectives consistent with established curriculum.
• Provide experiences that extend students' thinking skills with a program of study meeting individual needs and interests.
• Preview and prepare needed materials in advance.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Make effective use of planning time and observe designated working hours.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques, technology, and instructional media based on student needs and capabilities.
• Differentiate instruction for individual students based on their unique learning needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and nonjudgmental views of children and families served.
• Use formative and summative assessments frequently to determine instructional needs.
• Support individual student needs through collaboration with Special Education, Title I, support staff, and parents.
• Take responsible precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Develop reasonable rules of behavior and procedures in the classroom and maintain order fairly.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
• Continue professional growth through participation in developmental opportunities.
• Participate in curriculum development, improvement, and revision of course outlines.
• Perform campus supervision as needed or directed by supervisor.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
• Participate cooperatively with the principal in performance evaluations as stated in district policies.
• Track and report behavioral and achievement data.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred or sub-certified.
• Appropriate and current Missouri Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education preferred; will consider sub-certification.
• Must successfully pass a background check satisfactory to the Board of Education.
• Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
• Strong time management and telephone skills.
• Computer knowledge and assistive technology proficiency.

Coaching duties may be assigned based on availability and/or need.
