Behavioral Aides at EastPointe Hospital provide essential support to patients in psychiatric crisis, focusing on stabilization and engagement in treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides ongoing monitoring of consumers
  • Engages consumers to ensure their safety and participation in activities
  • Assists with personal hygiene, medical appointments, and recreational activities
  • Supports teachers during class time
  • Ensures unit schedules are followed and encourages active participation in planned activities
  • Performs hand-off communication at shift change
  • Trains on basic living skills and provides BLS groups
  • Completes environment of care unit checklists and reports findings
  • Ensures consumers receive meals and confirms information on the meal count sheet
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize and deescalate crisis situations
  • Applies seclusion and restraint procedures according to policy
  • Documents crises, protective holds, seclusions, and restraints
  • Maintains cleanliness and tidiness of unit and common areas
  • Encourages consumers to support the effort and collaborate with the treatment team
  • Participates in shift reporting and reports consumer/staff problems
  • Works on any unit at BayPointe based on facility needs
  • Models appropriate behavior and maintains confidentiality
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and committee meetings
  • Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Adheres to AltaPointe policies and procedures
  • Attends in-service trainings and workshops

Requirements

  • Frequent standing, sitting, and walking
  • Occasional forward bending, squatting, and reaching
  • Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Strong grasp to use keys and maintain contact during restraint procedures
  • Pushing/pulling force up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to ambulate quickly in emergency situations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

Skills

  • Effective communication skills

Schedule

  • Self-scheduling available
  • Full-time: 3, 12-hour shifts per week including weekends
  • Part-time: 1-2 shifts per week
