Behavior Technician working with kids

Caravel Autism Health · Lake Zurich, IL · 3 wk ago
On-siteOTHR$18.24–$20/hrFull-time

About the Role

We’re looking for a certain kind of person—someone who kneels down to a child's eye level, brings the same positivity to the tenth try as the first, and celebrates small wins like they’re monumental. If this sounds like you, here’s what joining our team looks like:

  • Strong clinical mentorship and real career pathways into leadership.
  • Colleagues who value your expertise and support your growth.
  • Paid training to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with guidance from mentors and peers.
  • A collaborative culture driven by shared success, not competition.

Responsibilities

You’ll work 1:1 with children ages 18 months to 6 years who have a diagnosis of autism, in a center-based environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Delivering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), guided by individualized treatment plans.
  • Building skills through play, connection, and creating a safe, positive environment for every child.
  • Tracking progress and documenting sessions using ABA technology.
  • Preparing for your RBT certification exam within your first 45 days.

Requirements

  • Full-time availability Monday–Friday.
  • Must be 18 or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Reliability—showing up for scheduled hours and staying on top of administrative tasks.
  • Resilience and compassion, especially on tough days.
  • Interest in psychology, education, healthcare, or human services—experience with children is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain RBT certification within 45 days of employment (we’ll prepare you).
  • Physical readiness: pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds; sitting on the floor, stooping, standing, walking, and moving quickly alongside kids when needed.

Pay

  • No RBT? $18.24 - $20.00 per hour.
  • Obtained your RBT? Start at $19.19 for RBT 1, with potential to move up to $22.00 with progressions into Advanced ARBT.

Benefits

  • 401(k) with company match.
  • $500 referral bonus.
  • Paid time off, holiday pay, and mileage reimbursement.
  • Full health benefits for full-time team members.
  • 1:1 client sessions—no group billing or overwhelming caseloads.
  • Career pathway to become a BCBA with our BCBA Rise Scholarship program, providing up to $10,000 in financial support for your Master’s degree.
