Behavior Technician (Michigan ST) (Mon-Fri; Part time 3:30pm-7:30pm)

About the Role

Gateway Pediatric Therapy offers home and clinic-based ABA services for children with autism, working closely with families to meet each child’s unique needs in a supportive, team-driven environment. We invest in our Behavior Technicians with a structured career pathway designed for growth and advancement, including eligibility for promotions after 3 months of service into Lead or Senior Behavior Technician roles paying up to $24 an hour.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain instructional area throughout the session and at its conclusion.
• Prepare and keep binder, stimuli, and needed materials accessible and organized.
• Dress appropriately and arrive on time for work with ample preparation time.
• Complete all tasks associated with session completion.
• Receive 1:1 and group supervision from supervisors through direct observation.
• Attend team meetings and scheduled trainings.
• Communicate professionally and positively with coworkers and parents.
• Respond to all internal communication (email, phone call, etc.) within 24 hours.
• Practice universal precautions to protect against communicable diseases.
• Maintain appropriate communication with parents about all aspects of therapy.
• Deliver instruction following procedures from initial and ongoing training, incorporating feedback from supervisory staff.
• Collect, record, and analyze data accurately per Gateway Pediatric Therapy’s procedures.
• Respond to client’s behavior following trained procedures and feedback from supervisory staff.
• Complete necessary training and demonstrate accurate implementation of client-specific plans (e.g., behavior plans, emergency procedures).
• Perform and maintain certification in basic first aid procedures.
• Complete and submit all progress notes by the end of the scheduled therapy session.
• Identify when interventions are needed and communicate timely to monitoring BCBA or supervisor.
• Implement Crisis Prevention Institute procedures for maladaptive or undesired behaviors.
• Report directly to the monitoring BCBA for client needs and program implementation; report to Clinical Managers for administrative needs.
• Maintain client privacy in accordance with HIPAA and Gateway policies.

Requirements

• Must be able to communicate expressively and receptively both verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to sit in a child-size chair or on the floor, switch from standing to sitting quickly, walk, jog, or run quickly in case of client elopement, and assume/maintain postures such as standing, sitting, kneeling, or squatting.
• Physical activities include bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, visual acuity, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have a valid Driver License and reliable vehicle.
