Behavior Technician

About the role

As a Behavior Technician, you’ll work one-on-one with children with autism, using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy and play to build communication, confidence, and independence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on ABA principles
• Monitor and document client progress in real-time
• Collaborate with a team of therapists and parents to ensure consistent and effective care
• Adapt therapy sessions to meet the unique needs of each child
• Participate in regular team meetings to discuss case progress and strategies
• Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations as needed
• Engage in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements

• At least 18 years old on your first day of employment
• Ability to pass a background check
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Reliable transportation
• State-specific RBT requirements (see below)

Qualifications

• Experience with ABA therapy is not required; paid training will be provided
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with autism
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Positive attitude and willingness to adapt to new situations

State-Specific RBT Requirements

• In Illinois, Indiana, Nevada, North Carolina: RBT required before working with clients
• In Northern California, Maryland, New Mexico, Virginia: RBT required within 90 days of hire
• In Massachusetts, New Hampshire: RBT required before working with clients (no grace period)

Physical Requirements

• You are expected to be able to complete all physical requirements of the position either with or without a reasonable accommodation
• This role may require you to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds and move quickly in response to client needs
• You are expected to be able to frequently change physical positions throughout the day, including walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, stooping, crouching, crawling, and occasionally running
• You are expected to maintain continuous visual supervision and auditory awareness of clients to support a safe environment
