About the role
The South Portland Middle and High School seeks a dynamic professional to support and lead the special education teams in implementing positive behavioral support plans and understanding data collection/analysis.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and leadership to build the capacity of special education teams.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with teachers supporting students with various disabilities in diverse classroom settings.
- Lead the implementation of positive behavioral interventions for both large groups and individual students.
- Conduct functional behavioral assessments and demonstrate an understanding of and ability to collect and analyze data to inform programming.
- Show strong foundational understanding of team-centered behavior planning and have experience with trauma-informed practices and SEL intervention curriculums.
- Support students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and have knowledge of and experience with support MTSS programming.
- Consult and train other teachers and teams on best practices.
- Support the integration of Tier 1 PBIS implementation, including whole-staff professional development.
- Work within classrooms as needed to support students.
- Support Individualized Education Program (IEP) related paperwork as needed.
Requirements
State of Maine Children with Disabilities 282 (K-8) certification is required, while BCBA certification is preferred.
