Brief Overview
The Behavioral Specialist II at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is responsible for providing advanced direct care to children and adolescents with severe emotional, behavioral, social, and psychiatric challenges. They develop behavior modification protocols, monitor interventions, and provide training to support youth in achieving their treatment goals.
What You Will Do
- Serves as the primary behavior rehabilitation specialist to assigned patients, developing behavior modification protocols and monitoring interventions.
- Identifies and operationalizes specific target behaviors that impede patient development, and tracks these behaviors.
- Maintains the schedule of activities throughout the day, and provides active training and systematic social and emotional skills instruction to groups of youth.
- Demonstrates clinical skills to Behavior Specialist I & Behavior Assistants, and provides ongoing assessment of youth requiring restrictive procedures.
- Participates in training and education of patient, family, and other relevant caregivers, and assists in the orientation of new staff members.
- Provides coverage for absent supervisors and clinical staff, and attends in-service trainings and continuing education.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, education, or a similar field of study.
- Master's Degree preferred.
Experience Qualifications
- At least three (3) years experience with direct care of youth with social, emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric needs.
Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of typical and atypical youth development and related areas.
- Knowledge of behavioral methodology and principles.
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing in English.
- Computer skills including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
- Critical analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare team providers.
Pay
SALARY RANGE: $53,000.00 - $66,300.00 Annually
