BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST II

Monthly salary range: $7,145.00 - $9,342.00. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

About the role

The Department of State Hospitals – Coalinga is hiring for a permanent, full-time Behavior Specialist II position. As a member of the Mall Services Team, the incumbent may act as a lead person over a small group of lower-level positions and performs the more difficult and complex duties. The role involves assisting in conducting behavioral assessments (functional analyses), participating in designing behavior programs, analyzing and summarizing data, training staff in behavioral principles and techniques, and providing ongoing monitoring of program implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a lead person over a small group of lower-level positions.
  • Perform difficult and complex duties related to behavioral assessments and program design.
  • Assist in conducting functional analyses (behavioral assessments).
  • Participate in designing behavior programs.
  • Analyze, summarize, and display data.
  • Train staff in behavioral principles and techniques.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of program implementation.

Work Location

Fresno County, with a safe small-town feel. The work location is in-office with no telework option. Short commute to neighboring cities such as Fresno, Morro Bay, San Lucas, Lemoore, Hanford, and Madera.

About the Department

DSH-Coalinga opened in 2005 and treats forensically committed patients, primarily sexually violent predators. It is a self-contained psychiatric hospital with a security perimeter, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) provides perimeter security and patient transportation for outside medical services and court proceedings.
