About the role
The Behavior Specialist is responsible for conducting behavioral assessments, developing behavior support plans, and providing training to staff.
Responsibilities
- Functional Analysis: Perform Level I and Level II analyses to identify motivations for maladaptive behaviors.
- Data Collection Systems: Design and implement data collection forms and procedures for behavior data.
- Data Analysis: Plot and analyze data to identify trends and functional relationships.
- Behavior Support Plans: Design and implement behavior support plans based on functional analysis and data analysis.
- Positive Interventions: Develop and implement interventions to teach adaptive behaviors and reduce problematic behaviors.
- Staff Training: Train staff on interventions and data collection methods, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Program Planning: Contribute to long-range plans for Behavioral Health Services.
- Ongoing Professional Development: Participate in continuing education and maintain professional certifications.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Behavior Analysis and Therapy.
- Experience and/or specialized knowledge in developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and cognitive impairment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of employees.
- Experience in functional assessments, behavior program development, and staff training.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) eligibility preferred.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in Master’s level courses leading to a Master’s degree in Behavior Analysis and Therapy.
- Experience and/or specialized knowledge in developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and cognitive impairment.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology and/or mental health issues.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both written and orally).
- Experience in functional assessments, behavior program development, and staff training.
