Behavior Specialist - Endeavor Elementary

Full-time, 38-week position (7 hours per day) with benefits.

About the role

Responsible for identifying student strengths and addressing individual and environmental obstacles to learning.

Responsibilities

• Develop prescriptive interventions for referred and/or identified students needing behavioral support.
• Consult and collaborate with other school personnel to gather and share information.
• Implement PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) strategies to support students.
• Assist students in non-instructional areas, including supervising lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridors, study hall, and related areas.
• Accompany students on field trips to assist with supervision.
• Develop and implement behavior and attendance support plans as needed.
• Assist teachers with parent contact to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in student education.
• Participate in the IEP process, child study, and serve as a resource for the student support team.
• Assist students to maximize their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
• Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations for assisting students, including those with disabilities or special needs.
• Maintain a casework log to assist students and families with appropriate resources and support.
• Assist students directly toward adjustment to school.
• Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
• Assist guidance, pupil services staff, or building administration as needed.
• Attend evening events (up to 2 per week) at the direction of the building principal.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• Able to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, students, and administration.

Physical and Mental Demands

• While performing duties, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in quiet or noisy environments), taste, and smell.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Work environment noise level is usually loud to moderate.
• Mental functions include comparing, analyzing, communicating (orally and in writing), copying, coordinating, instructing, computing, synthesizing, evaluating, using interpersonal skills, compiling, and negotiating.
